EDPO 515 Childhood & Society: It’s a Different World
Course Description:
How does a child’s psychological development and the environment they grow up in, affect how they live and learn – from infancy through early elementary school? Best Practices and professional standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC - http://www.naeyc.org/ ) will be considered. This course is appropriate for early childhood educators and early elementary school educators.
Course Goals:
• To understand and apply theories of childhood development to the teaching and learning process
• To explore the history of childhood – past and present
• To analyze how home, school, peers, and technology impact children.
