Course Description:
This course will provide a cohort of dance, music, theater and visual art educators with professional development opportunities through participation in the Summer Arts Institute, put on by the Maine Arts Assessment Initiative. Topics of study include: Assessment in the Arts, Leadership, Technology, Proficiency and Creativity. Participants will design an individualized study plan and may follow up as workshop leaders in regional workshops, mentor other educators, or provide tools and resources to share. Pre-reading, participating in the Institute/workshop days, post-reading, and writing a summative, reflective paper are requirements for graduate credit in this course. The Maine Arts Assessment Initiative is sponsored in partnership by the Maine Arts Commission, the Maine Department of Education, the University of Southern Maine, the Maine Alliance for Arts Education, the New England Institute for Teacher Education and other arts and educational organizations.

Three graduate credits are granted upon successful completion.
