EDE 326: Google Workspace 101 for Educators

More and more schools are using the collaborative features in Google Workspace, and this course has something for every educator. This 10-week, online course will help educators best serve their students by learning how to use the key tools in Google Workspace to help facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity. There are free tutorials on how to use these features online, but this course will guide educators  through these features weekly, enabling educators to ask questions and get assistance along the way from a real person, an experienced technology instructor.

This course helps educators to meet some of the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) Competencies for Educators.  It can also help in preparation for Google Training certification, for those interested in going further.  Educators can apply this course to their re-certification goals.

Materials Required:

All resources for the course will be provided online.

♦ Ability to connect to the Internet – high speed connection preferred.

Google Chrome browser required.

Course Objectives:

In alignment with the ISTE Competencies for Educators, at the completion of this course, participants will:

♦ Learn to use and apply the features in Google Workspace, including Drive, Calendar, Docs, Slides, Sheets and Forms, Drawing, Sites and Google Classroom.

♦ Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity.

♦ Model digital age work and learning

♦ Design a final project that utilizes Google Workspace features.

♦ Encourage collaboration of students through enhanced skills and knowledge, making teaching and learning more efficient.

♦ Improve organization of resources and save time in planning and preparation

♦ Engage in professional growth and leadership

♦ Actively participate in weekly asynchronous online discussions.
