COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course follows Serravallo’s four-step process of turning assessment data into goal-directed instruction by focusing on data collection, data analysis, interpretation and goal setting and creating an action plan with the realm of literacy. The course also provides instruction and support on how to administer running records and analyze error and self-correction miscues using the teachings of Marie Clay. This course is designed for teachers and paraprofessionals of early literacy, K-2, and is offered only during the school year when teachers are in the classroom.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this course, participants will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for classroom-based data and assessment. Participants will:
Collect literacy data using a variety of student work and assessments
Analyze and interpret findings through data triangulation
Establish SMART goals and an action plan based on data analysis findings
Administer a running record and analyze error and self-correction miscues
