COURSE DESCRIPTION:                                                     4.5 CEUs

This introductory course provides foundational information relating to the field of gifted and talented education (i.e. history, laws, etc.), details characteristics of gifted students from various populations, describes how such students are identified and assessed, and presents up-to-date, research-based pedagogy relating to curriculum design and instruction. It may be applied toward the 690 (Gifted & Talented) endorsement for the State of Maine teachers.

Please note - this course is currently offered for 4.5 CEUs.

REQUIRED MATERIALS:

1.  Silverman, Linda Kreger. Giftedness 101. The Psych 101 Series. New York: Springer Publishing, 2013  (This is required).

2.  Choose one of the following: (In addition to the above, one of the following is required).
