Courses are open to all adult learners seeking professional development in the fields of education and liberal arts. Our students are often teachers, educational technicians, social workers, principals & superintendents, librarians, school counselors, and more.
Whether you're an educator looking to enhance your skills or someone interested in expanding your knowledge, you're welcome to enroll in our courses.
To enroll in a course, you may browse our course catalog and select the course you're interested in. You can then register for your selected course here.
You may also print a mail-in registration form.
Yes, all of our courses are fully online and offer flexibility that fits into educators' busy schedules.
Each of our courses requires a total of 45 hours.
Our Fall, Winter, and Spring semesters are 10 weeks in length. You’ll need to commit 4-5 hours to your studies per week.
Our Summer semester is 6 weeks in length, so you’ll need to plan to commit 7-8 hours to your studies per week.
We offer 4 fully-online semesters of courses each year: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.
Fall, Winter, and Spring semester run for 10 weeks.
Summer semester runs for 6 weeks.
You may receive an extension under extenuating circumstances. Please reach out to your instructor immediately if you require any accommodations.
Our instructors utilize Google Classroom for sharing course materials and assignments. You’ll receive an NEI student email address with login instructions. Additionally, your instructor may work with students to set up optional Zoom sessions throughout the semester.
You will work to meet your course’s syllabus objectives provided to you at the beginning of the semester. Your instructor will grade your work and offer feedback throughout the course of the semester.
Upon successful completion of course objectives, you will receive our signed and sealed CEU Certificate indicating your grade and successful completion of the course.
A CEU stands for Continuing Education Unit. One CEU is typically equivalent to ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience.
When you successfully complete one of our courses by earning a passing grade (B or higher), you will earn 4.5 CEUs which is equivalent to 45 contact hours. This indicates the amount of time you've spent engaged in the course material and activities.
After successfully completing a course, your official CEU certificate will be mailed to the address provided during your registration. You will also receive a digital copy via email.
New England Institute CEU Certificates have been recognized by the Maine Department of Education for recertification. However, we recommend that you verify with your specific institution or organization to ensure acceptance.
The cost for a 4.5 Continuing Education Units course is $790.00
We accept PayPal, personal check, or a purchase order (or third-party billing) from your school district.
Payment or Purchase Order is due by the registration deadline which is one week prior to the beginning of the semester.
If you need to cancel your registration, you must notify us a full week before the course begins. We will issue you a refund within 30 days of confirmed receipt of your cancellation.
When you are not able to give us a week’s notice for a cancellation, you will receive a credit toward another course with NEI.
No refunds are given after the first day of the semester. Extended time to complete studies as a Guided Independent Study or transferring to a different course is possible and is determined on a case-by-case basis.
