York, Dr. Stephen

Dr. Stephen York is the New England Institute’s Academic Dean and Co-Founder and is on the Core Faculty for education and liberal arts. Beyond teaching special education and general education courses, Dr. York teaches interdisciplinary studies in the humanities. Experienced as a public and private school teacher in special education, alternative education, middle school, and behavior management, he also taught for Job Corps in Grafton, Massachusetts, and in higher education in Pennsylvania, California, Michigan and New England. Awarded a B.A. in Education and Humanities at Vermont College of Norwich University in Montpelier, a M.Div. in Education and Humanities at Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, California, Dr. York has completed his Doctorate in Leadership Studies at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in Rochester, New York in 2020. In the Spring of 2022, Dr. York has been appointed to the Board of Directors for H.O.M.E., Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping and enhancing the quality of life for low-income and homeless families.
