Recharge and Recertify: Why Summer is the Perfect Time for Professional Development

by | May 1, 2025

Now that May has arrived, the school year’s final stretch is officially underway! Here in Maine, hints of summer are in the air: gardens are waking up, the days are getting longer, and many of us are beginning to daydream about beach afternoons and a slower pace. As every New Englander knows, summer is for both recharging and checking a few things off the list. So why not do both?

Our flexible, asynchronous six-week summer semester makes it easy to stay on track with your recertification goals, all while giving you the freedom to enjoy your well-earned downtime. It’s a simple way to meet your professional requirements without sacrificing your summer.

Special Offer: Celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week

In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5–9), The New England Institute is offering a special opportunity to learn and save together. During the month of May, when three or more educators from the same district register for the same 2025 course during the same semester, each participant will receive $100 off their registration.

This district-wide offer applies to any 2025 course (Summer or Fall semester) and is designed to encourage shared learning experiences. When educators take courses together, schools benefit from:

  • Consistent instructional practices
  • Stronger collaboration and peer support
  • Easier implementation of new strategies
  • Greater impact on student outcomes

If you’d like to take advantage of this opportunity, reach out and we’ll be happy to assist with the registration process.

So, whether you’re soaking up the sun at the lake, chasing your kids through the backyard sprinkler, or just enjoying a quiet morning with coffee and a good book, know that you can still fit in some meaningful professional development without giving up your summer. With the Teacher Appreciation Week offer, it’s a great time to team up, save a little, and grow together, too. Here’s to a summer that’s both restorative and inspiring – you’ve earned it!
