COURSE DESCRIPTION:                                                            4.5 CEUs

This course prepares educators to teach students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.  It is an overview of the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) definition of ASD and the nature, prevalence, age of onset, gender features, cultural and familial features, and educational implications of students with ASD. Evidence-based Best Practices will be considered. This course complies with the INTASC (Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium) standards and the CEC (Council for Exceptional Children).  This course is approved for Maine 282 certification when taken for 3 graduate credits. *

*This course is currently available for 4.5 CEUs only.  If you are looking to receive your 282 certification, you must take this course for 3 graduate credits. We are currently working on a new academic partnership with an accredited college and will be offering this for 3 graduate credits in the near future.  Meanwhile, the course is a great way to obtain added knowledge and skills to help you work with students with ASD, and to obtain recertification with 4.5 CEUs.  Stay tuned!
